The tenure of Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha as Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, has been extended for another one year.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Saturday (June 20, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved extension in his tenure for a further period of one year beyond June 28, 2026, that is up to June 28, 2027, on contract basis on existing terms and conditions, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
This is Kotecha’s fifth extension in the post.
Kotecha is among the lateral entrants appointed by the Centre. He was initially appointed as Special Secretary in the Ministry of Ayush in 2017 and was subsequently elevated to the post of Secretary.
He had earlier received two-year extensions in 2020 and 2022, followed by one-year extensions in June 2024 and May 2025.
Prior to joining the ministry, Kotecha served as chief consultant at Chakrapani Ayurveda Clinic in Jaipur.
The Ministry of Ayush was established in November 2014 to promote traditional systems of medicine and strengthen education and research in the sector.
