Prior to this assignment, he was serving as Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
Bombay High Court recently pulled up the state government for favouring acting DGP Pandey for the post and had asked the state government to make an appointment for the post of DGP by February 21.
Seth will retire in December 2023 and thus will have a long tenure as the DGP of the state.
In March 2021, Seth was appointed as acting DGP before he was transferred as DG, ACB, and Pandey was brought in his place.
