The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued separate orders appointing three IPS officers to important positions in central organisations and departments.
Abhishek Dhania (IPS:2012:AGMUT) has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General in the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). The order issued on Monday (May 4, 2026) stated that his appointment has been approved under the usual terms and conditions of deputation. Before this, he was serving as Additional Commissioner of Police, Crime (ANTF) in Delhi Police.
Taposh Basumatary (IPS:2019:KL) has been appointed as Superintendent of Police in the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The order issued on Tuesday (May 5, 2026) approved his deputation under the usual terms and conditions. He was earlier serving as DCP, Law & Order and Traffic, Thiruvananthapuram City.
Dr Sachin Gupta (IPS:2014:PB), currently posted as Superintendent of Police in the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), has been appointed as Additional Deputy Commissioner/Joint Assessor & Collector in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD).
According to the order issued on Friday (May 8, 2026), his appointment has been approved on deputation basis for an initial period of one year from the date of joining, extendable further or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
