New Delhi: The central deputation tenure of Vishal Chauhan (IAS:1998:SK) as Member (Administration), National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, has been extended by one year.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (September 24, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal to extend his deputation tenure for a period of one year beyond November 5, 2026, up to November 5, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. The extension has been approved with the continued temporary upgradation of the post.
Chauhan had joined the Department of Health and Family Welfare as Joint Secretary in November 2020 for a five-year tenure. He was subsequently shifted to the NHAI as Member (Administration) on November 7, 2023.
As his original five-year central deputation period was due to end in November 2025, the ACC had approved his continuation in the upgraded post of Member (Administration), NHAI, at Additional Secretary level, initially up to November 5, 2026.
With the latest approval, Chauhan will now continue as Member (Administration), NHAI, up to November 5, 2027, unless further orders are issued.
