The Union government on Friday (28.05.2022) granted an extension to the Gujarat DGP Ashish Bhatia (IPS:1985:GJ) for eight months beyond his date of superannuation on May 31, 2022. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet took the decision on Friday following proposals of the Ministry of Home Affairs made to the panel on May 24.
Bhatia was elevated to the post of Gujarat DGP from the Ahmedabad city police commissioner in July 2020 after incumbent Shivanand Jha (IPS:1983:GJ) retired post an extension.
