Four new part-time members have been appointed to the Prasar Bharati Board. They including BJP spokesperson Shaina NC, music composer Salim Merchant, Dainik Jagran editor-in-chief Sanjay Gupta and media professional Alok Agrawal. Veteran journalist Ashok Tandon, who has been on the board earlier as well, has now been re-appointed up to November 2025.
According to an official statement released by the Information and Broadcasting ministry on Tuesday, Salim Marchent’s appointment is up to November 2021, Ashok Agarwal and Shaina NC both have their tenure up to November 2023. Sanjay Gupta’s tenure is up to November 2025.
According to the Prasar Bharati Act, there can be six part-time members on the board apart from other ex-officio members. “The terms and conditions of their appointment shall be governed by the provisions of the Prasar Bharati (Broadcasting Corporation of India) Act, 1990.
