The Jharkhand government on Monday (July 7, 2026) appointed former Director General of Police (DGP) and retired IPS officer Ajay Kumar Singh as the Chairman of the Jharkhand Real Estate Regulatory Authority (JHARERA).
In the same order, retired Principal District and Sessions Judge Nalin Kumar has been appointed as a Member of the authority.
JHARERA is the statutory regulator responsible for overseeing the real estate sector in Jharkhand. The authority regulates and monitors real estate projects, ensures registration of developers and projects, promotes transparency and accountability in the sector, and safeguards the interests of homebuyers in accordance with the provisions of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 (RERA).
