Former DGP of Punjab Dinkar Gupta (IPS:1987:PB) has been appointed as Director General (DG) of National Investigation Agency (NIA). According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (23.06.2022), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Gupta as the NIA chief till March 31, 2024, the date of his retirement or till further orders, whichever takes place earlier. At present, he was posted as the Chief of the Punjab Police Housing Corporation.
