The Chhattisgarh government on Saturday (03.08.2024) granted tenure extension to Director General of Police Ashok Juneja (IPS:1989:CG) for six months under provisions of All India Service (Death-cum-Retirement Benefits) Rules in public interest after approval from the Union government. He was set to retire from the service on Monday, he will now superannuate on February 3 next year.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training on Saturday, ” The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of Ministry of Home Affairs for grant of extension in service to Shri Ashok Juneja IPS (CH:1989) Director General of Police (HoPF), Chhattisgarh for a period of 6 months beyond 04.08.2024 in relaxation of Rule 16(1) of AIS (DCRB) Rules, 1958, in public interest.”
Juneja has been rewarded with extension for apt handling of Naxal issue. He was appointed as acting DGP of the state on November 11, 2021 and was made full time DGP on August 5, 2022.
