Santosh Kumar Sarangi assigned addl charge as CMD of SECI

Santosh Kumar Sarangi IAS

Senior IAS officer Santosh Kumar Sarangi (IAS:1994:OR), currently serving as Secretary in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), has been assigned the additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI).

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (12.05.2025), the competent authority has approved the assignment of additional charge to Mr. Sarangi until the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

This development comes following the termination of services of Rameshwar Prasad Gupta (IAS:1987:GJ) as CMD of SECI on May 10, 2025, as per an order issued by the Ministry of Personnel. Gupta had been appointed to the role on June 13, 2023, for a two-year tenure.

Kerala: Reshuffle in police administration; Manoj Abraham is new Director, Vigilance

The Kerala government on Saturday (09.05.2025) enacted significant changes in police administration by transferring senior IPS officers.

The names of the officers and their posting are as follows;

  1. Yogesh Gupta (IPS: 1993: KL), Director, Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau, has been transferred and posted as DG, Fire & Rescue Services.
  2. Manoj Abraham (IPS: 1994: KL), DG, Fire & Rescue Services, has been transferred and posted as Director, Vigilance & Anti-Corruption Bureau.
  3. M R Ajithkumar (IPS: 1995: KL), ADG of Police, Armed Police Battalions, has been transferred and posted as Excise Commissioner in the ex-cadre post.
  4. Balram Kumar Upadhyay (IPS: 1997: KL), DG of Prisons and Correctional Services, has been transferred and posted as Director, Kerala Police Academy (KEPA).
  5. Mahipal Yadav (IPS: 1997: KL), Excise Commissioner, has been transferred and posted as Additional DG of Police, Crimes.
  6. G Sparjan Kumar (IPS: 2002: KL), IG of Police, Intelligence, has been transferred and posted as Inspector General of Police, Crimes I, Thiruvananthapuram.
  7. P Prakash (IPS: 2004: KL), IG of Police, Crimes III, Kozhikode, has been transferred and posted as Inspector General of Police, Coastal Police.
  8. K Sethu Raman (IPS: 2004: KL), IG of Police & Director, KEPA, has been transferred and posted as IG and DG of Prisons & Correctional Services in the ex-cadre post.
  9. A Akbar (IPS: 2005: KL), IG , Crimes- II Kochi, has been transferred and posted as IG, Internal Security.

Rajeev Kumar reappointed as Independent Director on NBCC Board

In a significant development, NBCC (India) Limited has announced the re-appointment of Rajeev Kumar as a Non-Official Independent Director on its Board. The reappointment was approved by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) via an office order dated May 9, 2025, and formally communicated to NBCC on May 10.

According to the notification, Kumar’s tenure will be for a period of one year from the date of notification or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.

Major bureaucratic reshuffle in Uttarakhand: 25 IAS officers transferred

65 IPS officers empanelled for IG/Equivalent posts in GoI

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Sunday (11.05.2025) approved the empanelment of 65 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers for appointment to Inspector General (IG) or IG-equivalent level posts in the Government of India.

Of the 65 officers, 57 belong to the 2007 batch (Initial), while the remaining eight are from the 2003 to 2006 batches, categorized as “Initial left over.”

This empanelment follows another round approved just a day earlier, on Saturday (10.05.2025), when 20 IPS officers from various batches and cadres were cleared for IG/IG-equivalent posts.

UP: 11 IPS officers shifted, Jogendra Kumar posted as CP, Prayagraj

Changes in the police administration of Uttar Pradesh are on going, with the state government issuing transfer orders for 11 more IPS officers on Sunday (11.05.2025). This marks the third list of transfers within a week.

The first transfer order was issued on Monday (05.05.2025), affecting 14 IPS officers, followed by a second list on Tuesday (06.05.2025) involving 10 officers. With Sunday’s reshuffle, a total of 35 IPS officers have been transferred in just seven days.

Rameshwar Prasad Gupta removed as CMD of SECI

In a significant development, the central government on Saturday (10.05.2025) terminated the services of Rameshwar Prasad Gupta (IAS:1987:GJ) as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), which functions under the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the immediate termination of Mr. Gupta’s services.

Gupta had taken charge as CMD of SECI in June 2023 for a two-year tenure, which was originally scheduled to end next month. However, his term has been cut short by nearly a month.

P Krishnamurthy empanelled as Additional Secretary in GoI

Senior IAS officer P Krishnamurthy (IAS:1997:AGMUT) has been empanelled for holding Additional Secretary or Additional Secretary-equivalent posts in the Government of India.

According to an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved the empanelment of Krishnamurthy in May 2025.

He is presently serving as Chairperson of the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) under the Department of Pharmaceuticals.

Yashasvi Mund re-designated as Director in DPIIT

Yashasvi Mund (ITS:2011), currently posted as Deputy Secretary in the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Technical Support Unit (TSU), has been re-designated as Director.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (09.05.2025), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the re-designation of Ms. Mund’s post to the Director level. The change will take effect from the date she assumes charge of the re-designated role and will be valid up to January 8, 2029.

Mund began her central deputation on January 9, 2024, and has since been serving in the DPIIT (TSU) as Deputy Secretary.
