Three IAS officers transferred in UP

The Yogi Adityanath goverment has transferred three IAS officers and given them new postings on sunday.

They are :

1. Gaya Prasad : Special Secretary, Child Development Department.
2. Sukh Lal Bharti : Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Saharanpur.(Addl. Charge)
3. Mahendra Kumar : Special Secretary, Urban Development

Retd Chief Secretary Rajive Kumar appointed UP RERA Chief

Former chief secretary Rajive Kumar (IAS:1981:UP) has been appointed the new full-time chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UPRERA).

Prior to this Principal Secretary (Housing) Nitin Ramesh Gokaran (IAS:1990:UP) held the additional charge of the post.

The state goverment appointed Balvender Kumar (IAS:1981:UP), former Union Mines Secretary and former Vice-Chairman DDA, as a Member.

In addition, Bhanu Pratap Singh (Retd. IPS) and Kalpana Mishra were also made Member of RERA in UP.

The Authority came into force on May 1, 2017, but the state government was unable to appoint a full-time chairman and members more than a year after it was established.

It may be underlined that Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) is constituted under the The Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 to protect home-buyers as well as help boost investment in the real estate industry.

Justice K M Joseph appointed as Judge in Supreme Court

The Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High court K M Joseph has been appointed as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India.

The appointment ends the six-month-long standoff between the judiciary and the executive over the elevation of Justice Joseph. The SC collegium, headed by CJI Dipak Misra, had on January 10, recommended the elevation of Justice Joseph along with senior advocate Indu Malhotra. However, the government while agreeing to the elevation of Malhotra, returned the Joseph recommendation on April 26.

On July 16, the SC collegium reiterated the recommendation elevating Justice Joseph, along with Justices Banerjee and Saran. Finally the government cleared his name for the apex court.

Indira Banerjee appointed 8 th woman Judge in SC

Chief Justice of the Madras High Court Indira Banerjee has been appointed as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India. With this appointment, the top court now has three women judges for the first time in history – Justice R Banumathi, Justice Indu Malhotra and Justice Indira Banerjee.

Banerjee, 60, who was the chief justice of the Madras High Court, is only the eighth woman to be elevated to the Supreme Court.

Justice Aniruddha Bose appointed as CJ of Jharkhand HC

Justice Aniruddha Bose, Judge of the Calcutta High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court.

Justice Bose did his LL.B. from Surendranath College of Law, Calcutta, and enrolled with the Bar Council of West Bengal as an Advocate in October, 1985. He was elevated to the Bench as a permanent judge in January 2004.

He was recommended for elevation as the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. His name was, however, returned by the Centre, with the observation that he does not have the experience to handle the affairs of a prominent High Court like Delhi.

The collegium had thereafter reconsidered its proposal, and had recommended that he be appointed as the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court instead.

Justice Rajendra Menon appointed as CJ of Delhi High Court

Chief Justice of Patna High Court, Justice Rajendra Menon has been transferred to Delhi High Court as Chief Justice.

Justice Menon will be taking over from Justice Gita Mittal, who had been functioning as the Acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court but has now been transferred to Jammu and Kashmir High Court as Chief Justice.

Justice Menon was elevated to the Gwalior Bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court as an Additional Judge in April, 2002, and was posted at the Principal Bench of the High Court in 2008. Thereafter, he was appointed as the Chief Justice of Patna High Court.

Justice Mukesh Kumar Rasikbhai Shah, Judge of the Gujarat High Court, has been appointed as Chief Justice of Patna High court.

Justice Gita Mittal appointed as CJ of J&K High Court

Acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, Justice Gita Mittal has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court. She is set to become the first woman Chief Justice of the High Court.

Justice Mittal is an alumna of Campus Law Centre, Delhi University, and began practicing in 1981. She was appointed as an Additional Judge of Delhi High Court in July, 2004, and was confirmed in February, 2006. She has been serving as the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court since April 2017.

Justice Hrishikesh Roy appointed as CJ of Kerala High Court

Justice Hrishikesh Roy, Judge of Kerala the High Court, has been appointed as Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.

Justice Roy graduated in law from the Campus Law Centre, the University of Delhi in 1982, and was designated as a Senior Advocate by the Gauhati High Court in December 2004.

For several years, he served as the Senior Government Advocate for the State of Arunachal Pradesh and was the Standing Counsel for the Assam State Electricity Board, and the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council. He was then sworn in as an Additional Judge in October, 2006, and was made permanent in July, 2008.

He was transferred from the Gauhati High Court to Kerala High Court on May 28 this year. Thereafter, on May 30, he was appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of the High Court, with Justice Antony Dominic’s retirement. He is now set to take charge as Acting Chief Justice.
