Justice Aniruddha Bose, Judge of the Calcutta High Court, has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court.

Justice Bose did his LL.B. from Surendranath College of Law, Calcutta, and enrolled with the Bar Council of West Bengal as an Advocate in October, 1985. He was elevated to the Bench as a permanent judge in January 2004.

He was recommended for elevation as the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. His name was, however, returned by the Centre, with the observation that he does not have the experience to handle the affairs of a prominent High Court like Delhi.

The collegium had thereafter reconsidered its proposal, and had recommended that he be appointed as the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court instead.
