REC conferred the PSE Excellence Award

REC Limited was conferred the runner up award for Corporate Governance (Maharatna & Navratna Category) at the 10th PSE Excellence Awards organized by Indian Chambers of Commerce (ICC).The award nominations witnessed more than 60 entries across various categories.

The PSE Excellence Awards is an initiative by Indian Chamber of Commerce, since 2010, to acknowledge the game changers who have contributed immensely in shaping up the Indian economy and congratulate them for their contribution.

The award was given by Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee, Former Secretary of Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) and Chief of the Jury Committee. The award ceremony was organized virtually and was attended by senior dignitaries from various CPSEs and the esteemed jury members.

Tamil Nadu : Two IPS officers transferred

The Tamil Nadu government on Monday issued transfer and posting orders of 02 IPS officers in the state.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows :

  1. Om Prakash Meena (IPS:2012:TN) : SP, Nagapattinam.
  2. S Selvanagarathinam (IPS:2014:TN) : Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Administration, PHQ.

Diwakar Nath Mishra will continue to hold addl charge of Chairman, APEDA

Diwakar Nath Mishra (IAS:2000:AM), Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce will continue to hold the additional charge of Chairman, Agriculture and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) for a period of six months beyond 14.09.2020 or till a regular incumbent assumes charge of the post.

Senior IAS Sanjay Lohiya relieved by Assam government

Sanjay Lohiya (IAS:1994:AM), on Monday, relived by the Assam government and placed at the disposal of Department of Personnel and Training, New Delhi for appointment as Joint Secretary to the Govt. of India, Ministry of Mines. He was posted as Principal Secretary to the Chief Secretary of Assam.

Nagaland : Three IAS officers transferred

The Nagaland government has issued transfer and posting orders of 03 IAS officers in the state.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows :

  1. Mohammad Ali Shihab : Deputy Commissioner, Kohima.
  2. Sarita Yadav : Joint Resident Commissioner, Nagaland House, New Delhi.
  3. Ajit Kumar Ranjan : Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire.

Rajasthan : Two IAS officers transferred

The Rajasthan government on Monday issued transfer and posting orders of 02 IAS officers in the state.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows :

  1. Kailash Chandra Verma (IAS:2002:RJ) : Secretary, Science & Technology Department, Jaipur.
  2. P Ramesh (IAS:2005:RJP) : MD, Rajasthan Finance Corporation, Jaipur.

PM Modi launches SVAMITVA scheme, to benefit land owners in Rural areas.

The physical distribution of property cards, under the ambitious Govt.project, SVAMITVA (Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) was launched by PM Narendra Modi on October 11th,2020. SWAMITVA Cards are physical copies of property titles of the villagers’ homes and the surrounding areas they own (as opposed to the cultivated land). Under the SWAMITVA scheme, land parcels in rural areas were mapped using drones. This will help in revenue collection and ensure clarity on property rights in rural areas. Speaking on the occassion, he said nobody could eye the property of beneficiaries now as an accurate survey involving latest technology is being done.

The scheme’s launch on the birth anniversaries of Jayaprakash Narayan and social reformer Nanaji Deshmukh, two leaders who worked tirelessly for rural development, is important. SVAMITVA scheme is aimed at creating accurate land documentation, reducing property-related disputes and increasing liquidity of land parcels. This will help in revenue collection, obtaining loans and ensure clarity on property rights in rural areas.

The scheme’s pilot project is being implemented in as many as 763 villages across India, which includes 346 villages from Uttar Pradesh, 221 from Haryana, 100 from Maharashtra, 44 from Madhya Pradesh, 50 from Uttarakhand and two from Karnataka.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar and Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Yadav were also present on the occassion.

Uttar Pradesh : Two ADG rank IPS officers shifted

The Uttar Pradesh government on Saturday night transferred two IPS officers of the additional director general of police (ADG)- rank.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows :

  1. Piyush Anand (IPS:1991:UP) : ADG, establishment.
  2. Sanjay Singhal (IPS:1993:UP) : ADG, Railway.

RAW, IB trains IRS officers to crack economic offences

The newly commissioned Indian Revenue Services (IRS) officers inducted in departments like the Enforcement Directorate, Income Tax, Serious Fraud Investigation Office, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence and CBI are undergoing a special training at RAW’s training academy at Gurgaon and IB’s National Intelligence Academy in Delhi. This is to strengthen the line of defence against technically equipped economic offenders engaged in money laundering and other economic offenses.

This training programme is coordinated by the finance ministry’s Central Economic Intelligence Bureau (CEIB) and is restricted for Group A officers of the Indian Revenue Service. Some of the modules of the programme are also open to the other officers from superintendent level to principal commissioners level.

A total nine course modules developed by premier agencies, RAW and IB are being offered to acquire expertise in intelligence gathering and handling of digital and forensic evidence.

The courses for the newly commissioned officers also include investigating economic crime in securities market, conducted at the National Institute of Securities Market, Navi Mumbai; trade-based money laundering at State Bank Institute of Consumer Banking, Hyderabad; legal aspects & legal matters at National Law University, Delhi, Forensic Accounting and Techniques of investigation using Digital Forensic at National Academy of Direct Taxes, Nagpur.

Training for new batch of IAS, IPS recruits begins with strict Covid-19 protocols

The training for newly recruited IAS, IPS and other all-India services officers of 2020 batch started at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), Mussoorie, with strict COVID-19 protocol compliances. This is at a time, when daily Covid-19 cases in India continue to rise and the Govt. agencies don’t want to take any chances.

For the common foundation course, scheduled between October 12 and December 18 this year, all the trainee officers have to report to the academy with a ” negative” RT-PCR test result. Incidentally, out of over 800 candidates who qualified this year, only 428 trainee officeres are joing the programme this year, as for the remaining, they have sought and are given exemptions and will be appearing for the next years exam to improve their rank.

These 428 trainee officers will be housed in double-occupancy rooms, where they get individual kits with N95 mask, thermometer, sanitiser and a set of Covid-19 safety instructions.

The trainee officers are instructed to self-monitor on a daily basis and report any issue to doctors at the on-campus medical centre. The first week of training course will be conducted online from their respective hostel rooms.

The officers are further instructed to maintain all protocols prescribed by the Union government including masks and social distancing during physical classes, starting from October 19.

The foundation course is statutory for every officer who has cleared the Civil Services Exam. Following this training the officers are formally inducted into services.

The training programme looks to develop a spirit of camaraderie and esprit de corps amongst the officers of all the participating services.

The young trainees have been advised not to undertake visits outside the academy unless essential, and wear masks and strictly observe social distancing off-campus. In the event of any trainee testing positive during the course, he or she will be shifted to a Covid-19 care centre set up by Uttarakhand government, with a separate team of doctors and nurses, on the campus itself.

The foundation course is common for every officer who has cleared the Civil Services Exam, following which the officers are formally inducted into services. The training programme looks to develop a spirit of camaraderie and esprit de corps amongst the officers of all the participating services.
