New Delhi: Something important appears to be in store for senior bureaucrat Ashish Chatterjee (IAS:1999:TN) in his parent cadre, as the Central Government has repatriated him to Tamil Nadu at the request of the state government.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (August 20, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved his repatriation with the imposition of extended cooling-off.
The repatriation assumes significance as Chatterjee has been serving on central deputation since August 2024 and has been holding his present position since April 2025.
Prior to his present assignment, he was serving as Managing Director, Tribal Co-operative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED).
