Archana Verma gets extension as Mission Director, National Water Mission

Archana Verma gets one-year extension as Mission Director, National Water Mission under Ministry of Jal Shakti till 2027.

The central deputation tenure of Archana Verma (IAS:1995:AM) as Mission Director in the National Water Mission (NWM) under the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation has been extended by one year.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (May 6, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Jal Shakti to extend her deputation tenure for a period of one year beyond September 8, 2026, that is up to September 8, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

She has been serving in the position at the level of Additional Secretary since September 8, 2022. She was initially appointed for a four-year tenure, which was scheduled to end in September 2026.

Notably, Archana Verma was empanelled for holding Secretary-equivalent posts in the Government of India on February 29, 2026.
