RAS officers' promotion to IAS

In a major development for the Rajasthan bureaucracy, 16 officers belonging to the 1998 and 1999 batches of the Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) have been promoted to the IAS cadre. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has issued the orders of their induction into the IAS.

While 13 officers are from the 1998 batch, three are from the 1999 batch.

RAS Association president Mahaveer Kharadi and Chief Minister’s Joint Secretary Anju Rajpal are among those promoted to the IAS, apart from three women officers.

For the first time, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) had held a meeting in Jaipur last month to consider promotions in which names of 18 officers were proposed, of whom 16 were selected against vacancies for 2025.

The newly-inducted IAS officers will, however, have to wait for new postings, as the Model Code of Conduct is in force in the state owing to the Panchayati Raj elections. The promoted officers are expected to be posted after the elections.
