New Delhi: The central deputation of IAS officer Raghav Langer (IAS:2009:UD) as Secretary in the National Medical Commission (NMC) has been extended by one year.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (September 22, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Department of Health and Family Welfare to extend Langer’s deputation for one year beyond October 3, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
This is Langer’s second one-year extension as Secretary, NMC. He was appointed to the post in March 2025, after moving from the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, where he was serving as Director.
His earlier tenure in the Water Resources Department was scheduled to end on October 3, 2025. However, he moved to the NMC in March 2025. His first extension as Secretary, NMC, was subsequently approved for one year.
With the latest extension, Langer will continue as NMC Secretary until October 3, 2027, unless the tenure is curtailed or extended further.
