Prasanna Kumar Acharya on Thursday (September 17, 2026) assumed charge as the new Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of NLC India Limited (NLCIL) at the company’s Corporate Office in Neyveli.
Acharya was serving as Director (Finance) at NLC India before taking over as CMD. The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) had interviewed seven candidates for the post on April 15, 2026 and recommended Acharya for appointment as CMD.
His elevation comes following the retirement of former CMD Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, who was due to retire on June 30, 2026.
Acharya brings experience across the power and infrastructure sectors, having held senior positions in organisations including GRIDCO, NTPC, Tata Power and NLC India. His professional experience spans power generation, transmission and distribution, mining and metro rail infrastructure.
During his tenure as Director (Finance) at NLC India, Acharya was part of the company’s senior leadership and handled responsibilities related to its financial functions. His experience across the energy and infrastructure sectors, coupled with his senior finance background, precedes his elevation to the top leadership position at NLC India.
