New Delhi: REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, has handed over Musalgaon Power Transmission Limited, a project-specific Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for an intra-state transmission project in Maharashtra, to the successful bidder, Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited, on September 9, 2026.
Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited emerged as the successful bidder through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process conducted by RECPDCL, the Bid Process Coordinator, for development of the intra-state transmission project on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.
The SPV was handed over by Shri Ratnesh Kumar, General Manager (Engg.), RECPDCL, to Shri Amit R. Naik, Chief Engineer (TBCB), Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited, in the presence of senior officials from Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited, Maharashtra STU and RECPDCL.
The project broadly envisages establishment of a 220/132/33 kV AIS substation at Musalgaon, a 220 kV double-circuit line of around 111 km from Musalgaon to Babhaleshwar (existing) and Raymond (existing), and a 132 kV double-circuit line of around 13 km from Musalgaon to Sinner (existing), along with associated works.
The project is scheduled to be implemented within 12 months at an estimated cost of ₹560 crore.
