The Supreme Court of India on Wednesday (September 2, 2026) deferred the hearing in the case related to the appointment of the next Director General of Police (DGP) of Odisha to September 7, 2026.
The matter concerning the process for selecting the state’s next police chief was scheduled for hearing earlier but has now been deferred by the apex court.
The case assumes significance as the outcome could have a bearing on the appointment of the next DGP of Odisha. The Supreme Court is expected to hear the arguments concerning the state government’s stand and petitions challenging the appointment process on the next date of hearing.
