The Centre has granted a six-month extension to Assam Chief Secretary Ravi Kota (IAS:1993:AM). He will now continue to hold the top bureaucratic post in the state until April 30, 2027.
This is the second six-month extension of service granted to Kota, as he was due to retire on April 30, 2026. His service was earlier extended from May 1, 2026, to October 31, 2026.
Kota assumed charge as the Assam Chief Secretary on April 1, 2024, and since then, he has been efficiently overseeing crucial issues related to administration and policy matters for the Assam government.
This extension means Kota will be heading the state administration through April next year.
