Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh cadre IPS officer Amarendra Singh Sengar (IPS:1995:UP) is set to be promoted to the rank of Director General (DG) in the Uttar Pradesh Police following Sujeet Pandey (IPS:1994:UP) taking charge as Director of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), Hyderabad, on Wednesday (July 15, 2026).
Sengar, who is currently serving as Commissioner of Police, Lucknow, was originally scheduled to be promoted to the DG rank on August 30, 2026, following the retirement of Ashok Mutha Jain (IAS:1995:UP), DG/ADG/Gorakhpur Zone.
However, Sujeet Pandey’s appointment as Director, SVPNPA created a vacancy in the DG rank in the Uttar Pradesh Police. The Uttar Pradesh government relieved Pandey on July 10, 2026, enabling him to take up his central deputation. With Pandey assuming charge at the National Police Academy, the state government is now set to promote Amarendra Singh Sengar to fill the vacant DG post.
