Bishwanath Sinha Assumes Charge as 51st Chief Secretary of Kerala

Senior IAS officer Bishwanath Sinha has assumed charge as the 51st Chief Secretary of Kerala. The state government also announced a minor IAS reshuffle following his appointment.

Senior IAS officer Bishwanath Sinha (IAS:1992:KL) on Tuesday (June 30, 2026) took charge as the 51st Chief Secretary of Kerala. He succeeded Dr A Jayathilak (IAS:1991:KL), who retired on attaining the age of superannuation.

The handing-over ceremony was held at the Chief Secretary’s office in the State Secretariat.

A 1992-batch Kerala cadre IAS officer, Bishwanath Sinha had been serving as Additional Chief Secretary, Home and Vigilance Department since 2023. He will remain Chief Secretary till his retirement in September 2028.

After his appointment, the state government carried out a minor IAS reshuffle.

Minhaj Alam (IAS:1996:KL), Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department and Agricultural Production Commissioner, has been posted as Additional Chief Secretary, Home and Vigilance Department.

He will continue to hold the additional charge of the Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department and the post of Agricultural Production Commissioner. He will also retain his other additional responsibilities.

Anju K.S. (IAS:2017:KL), who was serving as Staff Officer to the Chief Secretary, has been posted as Director, State Lotteries.

She has also been given the additional charge of Managing Director, Kerala State Backward Classes Development Corporation Ltd. (KSBCDC).
