Sanjay Jaju assumes charge as Telangana Chief Secretary

Senior IAS officer Sanjay Jaju has assumed charge as Telangana Chief Secretary, succeeding K Ramakrishna Rao. He will also hold additional charge of Industries and ITE&C departments.

Senior IAS officer Sanjay Jaju (IAS:1992:TG) on Tuesday (June 30, 2026) took charge as the Chief Secretary of Telangana. He succeeded K Ramakrishna Rao (IAS:1988:TG), who retired on attaining the age of superannuation.

Soon after taking charge, Jaju met Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

Sanjay Jaju returned to the Telangana cadre from central deputation at the request of the state government before being appointed Chief Secretary.

Before his return, he was serving as Secretary in the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER). He also held the additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Jaju is due to retire in February 2029. This gives him one of the longest tenures as Chief Secretary in Telangana.

Apart from the Chief Secretary’s post, he has been given several key responsibilities. He will hold the full additional charge of the Industries and Commerce Department and the Information Technology, Electronics and Communications Department.

He has also been appointed Special Principal Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Industry and Investment Cell in the Chief Minister’s Office.
