According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (June 10, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved the proposal of the Ministry of Tourism to extend his deputation tenure for two years beyond June 6, 2026 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Das has been serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism since April 14, 2026. Prior to this, he was serving as Director in the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) since November 2024, where he had moved on lateral shift from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).
Notably, Das had joined the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs as Director on June 6, 2021 under the Central Staffing Scheme. His approved central deputation tenure was for five years and with the latest approval, his tenure has now been extended by another two years.
