Senior IAS officer Rohit Kumar (IAS:1997:RJ), serving as Additional Secretary in NITI Aayog, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre Rajasthan.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (June 3, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved his premature repatriation to the parent cadre on the request of the Rajasthan government with imposition of extended cooling off.
Rohit Kumar had been serving as Additional Secretary in NITI Aayog since July 2025. Notably, his central deputation had earlier been extended by one year from September 24, 2025 to September 24, 2026. However, he is now being repatriated nearly three months before completion of the extended tenure.
Before joining NITI Aayog, he served in the Cabinet Secretariat, where he worked in Joint Secretary and later Additional Secretary capacities from May 2022. Prior to that, he served as Joint Secretary in the Department of Rural Development from September 2018.
