In a key development, senior IPS officer Mukesh Singh (IPS:1996:AGMUT), currently serving as Director General of Police (DGP), Ladakh, is likely to replace Rajiv Singh (IPS:1993:AGMUT) as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Manipur.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved Singh’s inter-cadre deputation from the AGMUT cadre to Manipur for a period of three years as a special case in public interest.

The deputation has paved the way for his likely appointment as Manipur Police chief following the Centre’s decision to appoint Rajiv Singh as Secretary (Security) in the Cabinet Secretariat.

Rajiv Singh has been appointed as Secretary (Security), a position that serves as the administrative head of the Special Protection Group (SPG), responsible for providing security to the Prime Minister and members of his immediate family residing at the official residence.
