Tamil Nadu transfers 6 IPS officers; two ASPs promoted as SPs

The Tamil Nadu government on Friday (May 22, 2026) issued promotion, transfer and posting orders for IPS officers with immediate effect, including key district-level changes and promotion of two Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) to the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP).

The officers affected in the latest reshuffle include:

1. Dr PK Senthil Kumari (IPS:2004:TN), Inspector General of Police, who was on compulsory wait, has been posted as Inspector General of Police, Traffic and Road Safety, Chennai.
2. Dongare Pravin Umesh (IPS:2016:TN), IPS, Superintendent of Police, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Western Range, Chennai, has been transferred and posted as Superintendent of Police, Tiruchirappalli District.
3. V Shyamala Devi (IPS), Superintendent of Police, Thirupathur District, has been posted as Superintendent of Police-II, Crime Against Women and Children, Chennai.
4. S Ashok Kumar (IPS), Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Coimbatore City, has been posted as Superintendent of Police, Tenkasi District.
5. Akshay Anil Wakhare (IPS:2022:TN), Assistant Superintendent of Police, Hosur Sub-Division, Krishnagiri District, has been promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Police and posted as SP, Thirupathur District.
6. Dr V Lalith Kumar (IPS:2022:TN), IPS, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Nagercoil Sub-Division, Kanniyakumari District, has been promoted to the rank of Superintendent of Police and posted as SP, Perambalur District.
