The central deputation tenure of Vipin Kumar (IAS:1996:BH) as Chairman of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has been extended till June 24, 2027.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (May 6, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Civil Aviation to extend his deputation tenure up to June 24, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Vipin Kumar has been serving as Chairman of AAI at the level of Additional Secretary since the last week of October 2024. Prior to this, he was serving as Additional Secretary in the Department of School Education and Literacy.
The Bihar cadre IAS officer had joined central deputation on June 24, 2020, as Joint Secretary in the Department of School Education and Literacy. He was later empanelled as Additional Secretary and subsequently elevated to the rank in the same department.
