Dheeraj Mittal (IFoS:2012:GJ), currently serving as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Food & Public Distribution, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre, Gujarat. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (November 20, 2025), the competent authority has approved the proposal of the Department of Food & Public Distribution to repatriate Mr. Mittal on personal grounds, along with the provision of extended cooling-off.
In March 2025, Mr. Mittal was appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Food & Public Distribution for a tenure up to July 26, 2026, covering a combined four-year admissible posting at the Deputy Secretary level. Before this assignment, he was serving as Assistant Inspector General of Forests in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
