In a notable development, Dr. Shalia Shah (IFS:2012), currently serving as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Higher Education, has been prematurely repatriated to her parent cadre.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (July 21, 2025), the competent authority approved the proposal of the Department of Higher Education to repatriate Shah before the completion of her extended tenure.
Dr. Shah was initially appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Higher Education on February 11, 2022, for a three-year tenure and assumed charge on March 2, 2022. As her original tenure neared its end, she was granted a two-year extension on February 27, 2025, extending her central deputation till March 1, 2027.
However, with the latest order, she stands repatriated to her cadre service well ahead of the revised tenure’s completion.
