IPS Officers, S.S.Deswal (IPS:1984:HY), M.A.Ganapathi (IPS:1986:UK) and Kamal Nayan Choubey (IPS:1986:JH) are the front runners for the post of Director General of the Border Security Forces.
Earlier, the post fell vacant in March this year, as then serving DG, Vivek Kumar Johri (IPS:1984:MP) was appointed as DGP, Madhya Pradesh, his parent cadre.
Presently, Deswal is DG, ITBP; Ganapathy is Special DG in CISF whereas Chaubey is OSD, Police Modernization Camp, New Delhi in the rank and pay of DGP.
It is being speculated, as per some reliable sources that Deswal’s additional charge of DG, BSF would turn out to be his regular charge and the rest of two may be drafted as DG, ITBP.
