Education and Early Career
Dr. Yogesh Kumar hails from Saharanpur district in Uttar Pradesh. He completed his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Sociology from M.S. College, Meerut, affiliated with Chaudhary Charan Singh University. He went on to pursue a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, where he also completed his Ph.D. in Sociology.
Kumar joined the Indian Administrative Service in 2010 through direct recruitment and was allotted the Uttar Pradesh cadre. After completing his IAS training in Mussoorie, he began his administrative career in the state, taking up assignments in district administration and various government departments.

Tenure as District Magistrate
