The Union Home Ministry has given its nod on the name of Vijay Namdeorao Zade (IAS:2002:PB) as the new finance secretary of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. He is posted as Secretary Expenditure, Punjab Government at present, with additional charges of engineering and urban planning departments. In the past, he has closely worked with the Union Territory’s administration and was the Chairman, Chandigarh Housing Board.
Earlier, Punjab Governor, V.P.Singh Badnore had sent Zade’s name as first choice among three Punjab Cadre IAS Officers. The other two contenders for the post were Kumar Rahul (IAS:2000:PB) and Arun Sekhri (IAS:2004:PB). The post had fallen vacant on 1st September, 2020, after former Finance Secretary of Chandigarh, A.K.Sinha completed his three year deputation in Chandigarh and was relieved.
