Giving a strong and clear anti -corruption message, the Uttar Pradesh government has registered FIRs on two senior IPS officers, Ajay Pal Sharma (IPS:2011:UP) and Himanshu Kumar (IPS:2010:UP) in Meerut, under stringent Prevention of Corruption Act, for allegedly lobbying for their transfer and posting.
If our top government sources are to be believed, substantial evidence of corruption against the two erring officers was found in the form of calls and chats from their cell phones. The state government has also slapped FIRs on three journalists Chandan Rai, Swapnil Rai and Atul Shukla for allegedly being involved in the case. All the five are accused of ‘inducing a government official for corruption’.
This comes after three videos of IPS officer and former Noida police chief, Vaibhav Krishna (IPS:2010:UP), were leaked on a social media platform. The officer had called a press conference to ‘clarify’ that the videos were ‘deliberately morphed’ to tarnish his image.
Krishna, who was suspended earlier this year, had also complained to the DGP and Chief Secretary (Home), Uttar Pradesh and claimed that he had busted a gang of five journalists involved in lobbying for posting of the then Noida SSP Ajay Pal Sharma, and other officials, namely, Sudhir Singh, Rajiv Narayan Mishra, Ganesh Saha and Himanshu Kumar.
