Following a vigilance probe, the Special Investigation Team has filed an FIR against IPS officer Ajay Pal Sharma in a corruption case. Director General of SIT, R. P. Singh said that an FIR registration against Sharma by a Lucknow woman has also been taken into account.
On March 8, a woman claiming to be Sharma”s ”wife” had in an FIR alleged that Sharma framed her in fraud case and got her arrested.
Earlier, on January 9, 2020 a three-member SIT was formed to probe graft allegations against 5 IPS officers- Ajay Pal Sharma, Sudhir Kumar Singh, Ganesh Saha, Rajiv Narain Mishra and Himanshu Kumar- levelled by another IPS Vaibhav Krishna.
The SIT recommended government action against Ajay Pal Sharma and Himanshu Kumar.
