Two judges transferred to Madras HC; one judicial officer elevated as additional judge

The Union government on Thursday (23.03.2023) notified the transfer of two judges each from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to the Madras High Court. A judicial officer was also appointed as an additional judge.

The Union government on Thursday (23.03.2023) notified the transfer of two judges each from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana to the Madras High Court. A judicial officer was also appointed as an additional judge.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice, Justice Battu Devanand of the Andhra Pradesh High Court and Justice Devaraju Nagarjun judge of the Telangana High Court were transferred to the Madras High Court. The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended their transfer in November 2022.

Further, Periyasamy Vadamalai, a judicial officer was appointed as an additional judge of the Madras High Court for a period of two years. His name was recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium in January.
