Tamil Nadu : Who will succeed DGP J K Tripathy ? UPSC to select panel on June 28

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will meet on June 28 to select the final panel for the Tamil Nadu Director General of Police post. The names of seven DGP and nine ADGP rank officers of the Tamil Nadu cadre drawn from the 1987 to 1991 IPS batches have been sent to the UPSC for shortlisting three to five names to be considered for the post of the state DGP as the incumbent DGP J K Tripathy (IPS:1985:85) is scheduled to retire on June 30.

While the names of seven qualifying DGP rank officers belonging to 1987 to 1989 batches of IPS was initially sent for shortlisting, sources in police headquarters said a revised list, including nine ADGP rank officers of the 1990 and 1991 batches, has been forwarded to the UPSC.

  • Karan Singhla (IPS:1987)
  • Sanjay Arora (IPS:1988) (Central Deputation)
  • Sunil Kumar Singh (IPS:1988)
  • P Kandaswamy (IPS:1988)
  • Md Shakeel Akhter (IPS:1989)
  • Braj Kishore Ravi (IPS:1989)

ADGP rank officers :

  • Shankar Jaiwal (IPS:1990)
  • A K Viswanathan (IPS:1990)
  • Abash Kumar (IPS:1990)
  • T V Ravichandran (IPS:1990) (Central Deputation)
  • Seema Agrawal (IPS:1990)
  • Amraesh Pujari (IPS:1991)
  • M Ravi (IPS:1991)
  • K Jayanth Murali (IPS:1991)
  • Karuna Sagar (IPS:1991)

These officers have the qualifying service of 30 years in the Indian Police Service and are serving as DGP’s and ADGP’s in the state police.
