The Tamil Nadu government on Sunday appointed senior IAS officer Rajeev Ranjan (IAS:1985:TN) as the next Chief Secretary of the state. He will take charge in the new post on Monday–February 1, 2021.
The Union government had last week approved the repatriation of Ranjan to his parent cadre on the request of the state government. He was holding the post of Union secretary for fisheries, animal husbandry and dairy development in New Delhi.
The incumbent chief secretary K Shanmugham (IAS:1985:TN), who retired on Sunday (January 31), has been appointed as Advisor to the state government from February 1 in the grade of chief secretary for a period of one year.
