The central government on Wednesday (September 11, 2024) appointed Santosh Sinha as the Managing Director of Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) till his superannuation on September 30, 2027. He is currently serving as Executive Director (Projects and Services) at Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR).
The post of Managing Director had remained under an ad hoc arrangement since February 2022, following the tragic demise of then MD Arun Kumar Shrivastava in a ceiling collapse incident. Since then, the organisation had been functioning without a full-time head.
During this period, Amit Kumar Singh (IRTS: 1987), Director (Marketing & Corporate Planning), CWC, was holding the additional charge of Managing Director.
It is pertinent to note that the Search-cum-Selection Committee (SCSC) had selected Sinha for the post on May 4, 2024.
Earlier, the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), in its meeting held on November 14, 2022, had not recommended any candidate for the position. Subsequently, the Department of Food & Public Distribution opted for the Search-cum-Selection route to identify a suitable successor to Shrivastava.
