Sanjay Chilwarwar prematurely repatriated to parent cadre

IRSSE officer Sanjay Chilwarwar has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre on personal grounds with extended cooling-off conditions.

Sanjay Chilwarwar (IRSSE:1997), currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (June 1, 2026), the competent authority has approved the proposal of the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment to repatriate Chilwarwar to his parent cadre on personal grounds with imposition of an extended cooling-off condition.

Notably, Chilwarwar had joined the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment on April 13, 2026.

Before this assignment, he was serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). He had originally been appointed in MNRE for a tenure up to August 31, 2029, which also coincides with the date of his retirement.

Chilwarwar belongs to the 1997 batch of the Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers (IRSSE).
