Rakesh Kashyap appointed Chairman of National Dam Safety Authority

Rakesh Kashyap, Chief Engineer, Central Water Commission, has been appointed Chairman of the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA), New Delhi.

New Delhi: Rakesh Kashyap, Chief Engineer, Central Water Commission (CWC), has been appointed Chairman of the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA), New Delhi.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (August 20, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved his appointment.

The National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) is the apex statutory body responsible for overseeing dam safety in India. It was established on February 18, 2022, under the Dam Safety Act, 2021, and functions under the Ministry of Jal Shakti.

Headquartered in New Delhi, the authority is responsible for implementing the provisions of the Dam Safety Act, coordinating dam safety measures and overseeing standards and inspections aimed at preventing dam-related disasters across the country.
