New Delhi: The central deputation tenure of Rakesh Gupta (IAS:1997:HY) as Additional Secretary, Department of Health & Family Welfare, has been extended by two years.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (August 11, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal to extend his deputation for two years beyond September 14, 2026, i.e. up to September 14, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Gupta has been serving as Additional Secretary, Department of Health & Family Welfare since January 2026.
Prior to this, he served as Joint Secretary and Additional Secretary in the Vice President’s Secretariat from September 2022.
Earlier, Gupta was appointed as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Women & Child Development for a five-year tenure in September 2021. His central deputation was therefore due to end on September 14, 2026.
With the latest extension, his central deputation tenure will now continue up to September 14, 2028.
