Rajendra Prasad Goyal, Director (Finance) at NHPC Limited, has been assigned additional charge of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of the company. He took over the charge on July 1, 2025, following the retirement of Raj Kumar Chaudhary on June 30 upon attaining superannuation.
Chaudhary had assumed the role of CMD on August 7, 2024.
Goyal’s appointment has been made on the directions of the Ministry of Power, NHPC said in a statement. Notably, this is not his first stint in the top role, he previously held the additional charge of CMD between March 1, 2024, and August 7, 2024.
Meanwhile, the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has already recommended the name of Bhupender Gupta for the post of CMD. Gupta is currently serving as Director (Technical) at THDC India Limited, a subsidiary of NTPC.
