The Rajasthan government on Monday (31.01.2022) appointed senior IAS officer Usha Sharma (IAS:1985:RJ) as the next Chief Secretary of the state. She is only second woman to occupy the top-most bureaucratic position in the state. In addition, the outgoing Chief Secretary Niranjan Kumar Arya (IAS:1989:RJ), who retired on Monday, has been appointed as the Advisor to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
Sharma has been given additional charge of Chairperson, Rajasthan State Mines and Minerals Corporation Limited, Udaipur till further orders.
The Union government on Sunday (30.01.2022) approved the repatriation of Sharma to her parent cadre on the request of the state government. She was holding the post of Union Sports Secretary in New Delhi.
