IAS officer Priyanka Mary Francis (IAS:2009:KN) has been appointed as Director, National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), Bengaluru, at the Joint Secretary (JS) level.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Saturday (June 27, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Culture to appoint her to the post for an overall tenure of five years up to June 9, 2029, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The approval has been granted by temporarily upgrading the post held by her from Director level to Joint Secretary level, initially for a period of two years, as a measure personal to her.
Notably, Priyanka Mary Francis had assumed charge as Director, National Gallery of Modern Art, Bengaluru, on June 9, 2024, for a five-year tenure. With the latest order, the post held by her has been upgraded from Director level to Joint Secretary level while her overall tenure remains unchanged.
