The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has failed to find a suitable candidate for the post of Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of India Optel Limited. The decision was taken at a selection meeting held on April 22, 2026.
The board interviewed a total of ten candidates for the post but did not recommend any of them. It has advised the Administrative Ministry or Department to explore alternative options for selection, including referring the matter to a Search-cum-Selection Committee (SCSC) or adopting any other appropriate mechanism with the approval of the competent authority.
The development comes ahead of the superannuation of the incumbent CMD, Tushar Tripathi, who is scheduled to retire on May 31, 2026.
