The All Indian Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Chairman post is vacant since Anil Sahasrabudhe completed his term on September 1, 2022. Since then UGC chairman Jagdish Kumar has been holding additional charge of the post. The Union Government is learnt to have shortlisted a few candidates for this post. According to reports the Union government has shortlisted a few candidates for the job. AICTE vice-chairperson MP Poonia, IIT Guwahati director TG Sitharam, and an IIT Kanpur professor are among the front-runners.
