Modi govt effects bureaucratic reshuffle at Joint Secretary level

In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, Modi government has cleared the appointment of over 16 officers to the post of Joint Secretary in various ministries and departments.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows:

  1. Shyam Bhagat Negi (IPS:1990:HP) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Coal for a tenure of five years vice Rajesh K Sinha (IAS:1994:KL).
  2. Amitabh Kumar (IRS-C&CE:1992) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce for a period of five years vice Bhupinder S Bhalla (IAS:1990:UT).
  3. M Angamuttu (IAS:2002:AM) has been appointed as Chairman, APEDA under the Department of Commerce for a period of five years vice P K Borthakur (IAS:1990:UT).
  4. Ashish Chatterjee (IAS:1999:TN) has been appointed as Sr. Directing Staff, SDS (Civil), National Defence College, Department of Defence for a combined tenure of seven years upto 01.06.2021 vice Abhay Tripathi (IAS:1986:AP).
  5. Anurag Bajpai (IFoS:1994:MN) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Defence Production for a tenure of five years vice Amit Sahai (IFoS:1987:AM).
  6. Sanjay Lohiya (IAS:1994:AM) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Mines for a tenure of five years vice Anil K Nayak (IOFS:1986).
  7. Sudhendu Jyoti Sinha (IRTS:1993) has been appointed as Adviser, NITI Aayog for tenure of five years vice Anil Srivastava (IAS:1985:MP).
  8. Rekha Yadav (IRPS:1995) has been appointed Joint Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj for an overall tenure of five years upto 12.03.2024 vice Sanjeev K Patjoshi (IPS:1991:KL).
  9. Asheesh Sharma (IAS:1997:MH) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Personnel & Training for a combined tenure of seven years upto 24.02.2023 vice R Jaya (IAS:1995:TN).
  10. Rahul Singh (IAS:1996:BH) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Personnel & Training for a tenure of five years
    against a new post of Joint Secretary for the India Presidency Secretariat, G 20 & BRICKS in DoPT.
  11. Mahmood Ahmed (IP&TAFS:1993) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways for a tenure of five years vice Abhay Damle (IRS-IT:1989).
  12. Kesang Yangzom Sherpa (IRS-IT:1995) has been appointed as Member Secretary, NCTE (Joint Secretary level), Department of School Education & Literacy for a tenure of five years vice Niteshwar Kumar (IAS:1996:UP).
  13. Chetan Prakash Jain (IRPS:1995) has been appointed as Joint Secretary & Financial Adviser, Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Department of Scientific and Industrial
    Research
    for a tenure of five years vice Sumita Sarkar (IRAS:1987).
  14. M Maheshwar Rao (IAS:1995:KN) has been appointed as Joint Secretary & Financial Adviser, Department of Space, Bengaluru for a tenure of five years by downgrading the post from Additional Secretary level, initially for two years vice Anoop Srivastava (IDAS:1989).
  15. G Jayanti (CSS) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Space, Bengaluru for an overall tenure upto her superannuation on 31.03.2024 vice C M Sane (IA&AS:1993).
  16. Aditi Das Rout (ITS:1986) has been appointed as Ministry of Women and Child Development for an overall tenure upto her superannuation on 30.11.2023 by downgrading a vacant post of Additional Secretary.
