The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has ordered an investigation into the alleged disproportionate assets of Sanjay Kumar Singh (IAS:1996:OR), Deputy Director General (DDG) of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB). Last week, Odisha cadre senior IPS officer took voluntary retirement. He was the probe officer into the Cordelia Cruise drug bust case and gave clean chit to actor Shah Rukh Khan son Aryan Khan booked in a narcotics case by NCB Mumbai on October 2, 2021.
Sanjay Kumar Singh filed for voluntary retirement on the last day of February, which was approved by the Odisha government after waiving the mandatory three-month waiting period. He is set to leave service on the last day of April, a year ahead of his scheduled retirement, marking the end of his 28-year career in the police force.
The investigation into disproportionate assets focuses on significant college fees paid in 2021 and 2022, as well as a property in Navi Mumbai that is suspected to be a benami.
